Dear Lazyweb: What to visit in Alaska?

I'm holidaying in Alaska for a few weeks around June, anyone has been there and can share the stuff we should totally not miss/do when visiting?

It has been a while since I was there, but some suggestions:

1. Bus ride to the arctic circle
2. Boat and/or helicopter ride to glacier, such as Glacier Bay national park.
3. Humpack whale watching.
4. Bear and bald eagle watching river tour (you can see a ton of them).
5. Fishing for halibut (like a flounder the size of a person), such as is in Homer, Alaska. You can catch one and have it frozen and shipped home. One will likely feed you for weeks.
6. Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park
5. Kenai Fjords National Park
6. Denali National Park and Mount McKinley (largest mountain in North America)

Okay, i lived all over that place and saw many things. I didn't do many touristy things.

1. Downtown anchorage is pretty sweet. There is also kinkaid park on the west side of anchorage which is pretty cool place.

2. If your into hiking, http://www.everytrail.com/best/hiking-anchorage-alaska, its all amazingly gorgeous. Tried to find the one I did but don't recognize any of the names, southeast anchorage. Hiked up a huge mountain top.

3. Drive down to seward and spend a day. If you have time there is also an awesome hike up the mountain and then there is a glacier hike, they also have the sea life center. Basically aquarium and a bird aviary kind of thing. They also do boat rides (whale watching)..yes we saw whales when i went on it, and kayaking to an island that you can stay overnight but that costs $$$. If you really want a sweet time hire a fish charter and catch some halibut. It was dang fun. We had tons of seafood after though...Tons of bald eagles. I actually got a movie of one diving into the ocean and scooping a fish up......

4. If you head north from anchorage, head to Denali like the previous post. Its a huge tourist spot and im sure they have tons of stuff to do. I never got a chance to do that.

5. I lived in fairbanks for some time, wasn't impressed.

6. Eat at fish restaurants, and small places. Don't eat what you always eat. You'll regret it. I had a family prepare King Crab caught that day. I can't find anything like it. I was in Nome for that where they haul them in and can them or sell them

7. The gold stuff is pretty fun, there might be some tourist stuff to do with that. I was able to do some gold panning in Nome on the beach, also helped a guy with his dredge system. We didn't make much.

8. Stop at driving spots and take in the view.

9. Don't mess with the moose, they are known to kill.

10. If you can, try and go fishing. It's an amazing experience. I would cast and within seconds have a massive salmon fighting me on the other end.

Oh yeah, king crab is great. Don't forget to eat some dungeness crab, too. I think it is even better.

About the gold panning, we went to a place that allowed you to pan for gold...then they sold you a little bottle for it that (by coincidence I am sure), cost just a little more than the value of the gold you found (it was just a few flakes of gold).
